Bappi Lahiri, the Disco King of Bollywood, dies in Mumbai at the age of 69

Best known for popularising disco music to the Indian mainstream, the singer was fondly known as Bappi da, and experienced huge success in the 1980s and 90s.

Bappi Lahiri has two kids son Bappa Lahiri, and daughter Rema Lahiri. This is a family photo in an event.

He earned the title ‘Disco King’ thanks to his work on films such as Disco Dancer, Namak Halaal, Dance Dance, Commando.

Personalities from all walks of life paid tribute to Lahiri, including PM Narendra Modi, actors Ajay Devgn and Akshay Kumar and composer AR Rahman.

The singer was seen on the screen with Salman Khan on his reality show Bigg Boss 15. He came to promote his grandson Swastik's new song 'Baccha Party'. 

Bappi da is known for his inimitable dressing style, dominated by gold chains. He was never seen in public without them, and was even mocked on occasion for his public persona.

Bappi lahiri (1952-2022) was a golden journey with is solid & rocking sounds, he conqured the world. RIP and condolenses are coming from all over the world.
