Mirabai Chanu deafened her 49KG weightlifting title in women's category at CWG 2022 Birmingham.
Mirabai dominated the 49KG category and created a new record lift of 201 KG and bagged the gold in India's pocket.
The silver went to Mauritius' Marie Hanitra Roilya Ranaivosoa (172kg) and bronze to Canada's Hannah Kaminski (171 kg) respectively.
In the 49 kg weight category Chanu lifted 109 kg at ease, and not challenging her personal best, at final lift she lifted 105 kg to secure the gold medal.
Mirabai Chanu was the first athlete to bag the gold for India at tokyo olymics and so again in the same style at Common Wealth Games 2022.
PM Modi also applauded the exceptional performance of the 27 years old weightlifter by an inspiring tweet.
Overall it was a blockbuster day for India with Sanket Sargar's silver medal, Gururaja Poojary giving bronze medal and Mirabai's gold medal win at CWG 2022.
